CP Media Kathmandu Coast to Coast Support Crew Special – Matt Sherwood, Matt Bateman & Glen Currie

Tonight’s show is all about logistics, transitions, and most important of all your support crew. No matter how your training has gone and what shape you are in the Kathmandu Coast to Coast is a team effort. To be able to finish well and achieve your race day goals means that your support crew need to have a good day too. To achieve this you need to be organised.

The Team leader of Team CP’s support crew service where he and the team are supporting up to 30 athletes at any one time. Matt has completed the longest day and knows the event inside out. Matt will give us his top tips for support crew to make sure that your athlete remains sane and everyone has a good Kathmandu Coast to Coast Experience.

CP Media Kathmandu Coast to Coast Special 20th December 2021 – Making it to the start line

We kick off the show with new race director Gemma Peskett. Gemma has been involved in the event for a number of years and excited to take ownership of the event for 2021. We chat to Gemma about what has changed, what will be the same and what to expect when we get to the finish line.

Adam has a wide range of experience with Motatapu having completed the tri a number of times and has qualified for Xterra worlds from the event. As an Arrowtown local (where the event finishes) Adam was also involved in course testing the Motatapu Ultra run back when it was first proposed as an event.

Amanda completed the Motatapu Marathon for the first time earlier this year and had a blast. She loved it so much that she thought that she should go to the next level and tackle the 50km Ultra Course. We discuss her Motatapu Marathon experience and what she is most looking forward to in 2021.

This week we welcome Katherine Camp to the show. Kat specializes in running fast! More specifically fast over the 800m and 1500m distance on the track.

Earlier this year she was gunning for Olympic selection in Tokyo. While that remains her goal for 2021 she also has an eye on the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

We use this opportunity to unpack all of the little things that Kat does in her training to help her go fast. Covering topics from injury prevention to mental skills, strength training, nutrition and her training load we find out what works for her and what doesn’t.

This week we welcome Greg Henderson to the show. He has had an elite cycling career spanning more than 20 years.

Henderson rode in five Olympic Games and completed 11 Grand Tours. He also competed in four Commonwealth Games and was a four-time medalist, including winning gold in the points race in 2002.

He turned more seriously to the road in 2004. From 2007-09, he rode for the T-Mobile team. By 2010-11 he was a key lead-out rider at Team Sky, before switching to Lotto-Belisol in 2012 where his partnership with German Andre Greipel produced many, many wins. With stage wins in the Tour of Spain, the Paris-Nice, Tour of Britain, Tour of Catalunya and Tour of California,

These days Greg works as a cycling coach for Pro Tour Team Israel Start-Up Nation, is a Zwift Ambassador and I am sure still rides his bike pretty fast…
