Hi, I’m Fiona and I have been coaching for Team CP since 2018 and loving it.
I grew up in an outdoorsy family and have always enjoyed being outside and having adventures. I decided to develop this into a career by studying towards a Diploma in Applied Education and later a Bachelor’s Degree in Sustainability and Outdoor Education through CPIT (now Ara).
I worked in the outdoor industry in many different roles around NZ and also spent quite a bit of time instructing in the USA and Australia mainly specialising in rock climbing, whitewater kayaking, and hiking often on expedition length courses.
I have always enjoyed the challenges that come with the outdoors and so endurance sports have seemed like a natural fit as an outlet for my competitive side. I have enjoyed a lot of different events and disciplines such as the Godzone Adventure race, Kepler run, Motatapu MTB, Mt Isobel Challenge, Rainbow Rage MTB, Mt Somers run and Duathlon, Peak to pub, Coast to coast Longest day, 2day individual and teams events, Challenge Wanaka and many more.
When children curtailed my work in the outdoor sector I started to pursue endurance sport more strongly and have been pleased to come away with some strong results especially more recently in the veteran’s category!
In 2021 I studied towards and achieved an Ultra running coaching certification through UESCA (united endurance sport coaching association) and have been enjoying putting that new knowledge to good use.
I am enjoying my time coaching with Team CP and what I have found most rewarding is working with clients who have an audacious goal that they are not sure they can achieve, helping them to put a plan in place and then working with them through the inevitable ups and downs to achieve their goal.
If you have a big scary goal then we can help with that and I look forward to seeing you on the start line.
